Brew Guide
Brewing with Divvi.
This is your starting point for a better cup of coffee — tweak ratios and grind size as you experiment. For two cups, start with 40g of coffee; for one cup, halve the recipe and use a slightly finer grind to prevent under-extraction.
Step One
Measure & Prep
- Heat water to 205°F:
In a gooseneck kettle, heat water to just off boil. - Measure your coffee:
For two even cups: 40g coffee, medium grind (a touch finer than kosher salt). No scale? Use about 6 level tablespoons of ground coffee.
For one perfect cup: ~20g, slightly finer grind. - Prep & Rinse Filter:
Fold seams of a #4 paper filter and place in the Divvi Dripper. Rinse thoroughly with hot water, and discard rinse water.
Step Two
Bloom The Coffee
- Add ground coffee and shake gently to level the coffee bed.
- Place mugs close together (within 1 inch) & position Divvi on top so each spout points into a cup.
- Pour just enough water (about 2–3x the coffee weight) to saturate grounds.
- Let coffee bubble up and “bloom” for 45 seconds.
Step Three
The Main Pour
- Divide remaining water into two pours.
- Pour in a slow, circular motion, starting from the center and spiraling outward until water is ~½ inch from filter top.
- Let the brew drain for about 45 seconds, then repeat with the rest of the water.
- The total brew time should be around 4 minutes. If the coffee tastes too strong or bitter, use a coarser grind. If it's too weak or sour, use a finer grind.
Enjoy your perfectly divided brew!
A Note on Uneven Mugs: The height difference between your mugs should be less than half an inch to ensure an even split.
To avoid tipping, make sure the grooved edges of the dripper legs rest near the widest part of the shorter cup.

Frequently asked questions
Does Divvi Dripper work with small and large cups?
Yes! Divvi Dripper is designed to fit a wide range of cup sizes. As long as the height difference between cups is ½ inch or less, you can mix and match shapes and sizes. It even works with extra-wide mugs up to 5 inches in rim diameter. For stability, we don’t recommend using bottles or vessels with openings smaller than 2.25 inches.
Does Divvi Dripper work with cups of different heights?
Yes! Divvi Dripper is designed to handle cups that aren’t perfectly matched. As long as the height difference is about ½ inch or less, the brew will split evenly between them. You might see a small variation, usually no more than 2–3 tablespoons.
Can I use it on one cup or carafe?
Absolutely! Divvi Dripper works just like any standard pour-over on a single cup, thermos, travel mug, or carafe. For single-cup brewing, the cup’s opening should be between 2.25 and 5.7 inches in diameter.
What type of filters should I use with Divvi?
Divvi Dripper works with any #4 coffee filters. For the best results, try our Divvi #4 Coffee Filters - made in the USA from premium, high-quality pulp.
Does it come with filters?
Yes, each dripper comes with a sample pack of 25 natural (unbleached) Divvi coffee filters.
Is Divvi Dripper BPA-Free?
Yes! Divvi Dripper is made from Eastman Tritan™ copolyester - a durable, heat-resistant material that’s completely BPA, BPS, and BPF-free. It’s the same trusted material used in shatter-resistant baby bottles, so you can brew with confidence.
Is Divvi Dripper dishwasher safe?
Yes, it is dishwasher safe. You can simply rinse with hot water after use or put it in the dishwasher for deeper cleaning.
